Swiss communities of Bessarabia in the Twilight of Empires: communities’ perception of the impact of events

Abstract

This paper aims at bringing to the light the destiny of Swiss settlements, also called ‘colonies,’ on the Northern Black sea coast during and after the First world war. This corresponds to the topic of the conference entitled «Before and After First World War. The Balkans and Caucasus between 1912 and 1923», held in Milan November 2018.
