Abstract:

Gert Hofstede developed a model of cultural dimensions that is used to analyze the impact of culture on individuals’ behavior across different cultures. This model comprises six core dimensions. To understand the potential influence of culture, we examine the impact of these parameters on the individual and professional paths of Ukrainian migrants in Switzerland. Switzerland has a low power distance. This may mean that migrants will experience a sense of equality in interactions with authorities or management, fostering openness in relationships. In professional activities, this also has an impact, as companies in Switzerland typically have a horizontal management structure. Thus, Ukrainians who are accustomed to more hierarchical systems will need some time to adapt.
