Abstract:

“Intersektionen zwischen Alter und Flucht standen bislang nur punktuell im Zentrum wissenschaftlichen Interessens. Qualitative Interviews mit älteren Geflüchteten zeigen, dass die schweizerische Integrationspolitik kaum auf Bedürfnisse und Erwartungen dieser Personen zugeschnitten ist und sie von gesellschaftlichem Ausschluss betroffen sind. Ältere Geflüchtete müssen eigenständige Strategien entwickeln, um dennoch gesellschaftliche Teilhabe und Anerkennung zu erfahren.”

“Until now the topic linking age and the moment of fleeing one’s country of origin have been of scientific interest only rarely. Older refugees have hardly attracted scientific attention. Qualitative interviews with older refugees show that Swiss integration policy is barely tailored to the needs and expectations of these persons and that they are affected by social exclusion. Therefore, older refugees have to develop their own strategies in order to participate in society and gain recognition.”

“Jusqu’à présent, les liens entre l’âge et le moment de la fuite du pays d’origine ont peu fait l’objet de recherches scientifiques. Des entretiens qualitatifs avec des réfugiés âgés montrent que la politique suisse d’intégration n’est pas adaptée aux besoins et aux attentes de cette population, particulièrement touchée par l’exclusion sociale. Les refugiés âgés doivent alors élaborer leurs propres stratégies afin de prendre part à la société et de bénéficier d’une reconnaissance.”
