Abstract
This commentary engages with recent debates in migration and mobility studies to explore how a more-than-human perspective may extend strategies of “de-migranticization”. Building on Janine Dahinden’s plea to de-migranticize migration research, I discuss how a more-than-human perspective can de-exceptionalize human migration, decenter the migrant subject, and reveal how borders and boundaries are made and remade through transformative multispecies, material, ecological and technological entanglements. More specifically, I shed light on a shift from merely examining the participation and agency of non-human entities in migration to exploring more-than-human entanglements as the subject of study, with particular attention to their transformational character, both for humans and non-humans.
