The main question that it tries to answer is: How is deportation formulated and implemented in three different socio-political contexts?
This research demonstrates the complexity of the phenomenon under study and emphasizes the need for a sociology of deportation, necessarily interdisciplinary. Furthermore, it allows us to notice that foreign deportees are not merely passive components of the deportation process. The study also examines the properties of the analyzed categories (namely undocumented foreigners and foreign offenders), the diversity within them and the difficulty of delineating them. Moreover, it shows that some people may belong to both categories at once.
In the official discourse of the three analyzed countries, the so-called “voluntary” returns are put forward, but in practice, incentives and constraints are mobilized concurrently and to various degrees to break the resistance of the persons to be deported and to obtain their consent. Overt resistance to the deportation process or “absolute” consent are just two ways of responding to a deportation order among others. Moreover, the position of persons to be deported regarding their deportation may change over time.
In the three countries studied, there is a significant gap between the number of deportation orders and that of actual deportations, also known as the deportation gap in the social sciences literature. Dispite all efforts, the deportation process is marked by failures due to many reasons that can sometimes seem insignificant at first.

Keywords

Deportation of foreigners; sociology of deportation; comparison; undocumented migrants; foreign offenders; France; Switzerland; Turkey

Author(s) : Ibrahim Soysüren Source : https://libra.unine.ch/handle/20.500.14713/32140 Abstract:

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

53
14,209,163,270,197,52,219,195,262
post-840","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-law","tag-14","tag-criminal-behaviour","tag-deportation","tag-forcible-return","tag-france","tag-french-language","tag-thesis","tag-turkey","tag-undocumented-immigrants
["GET
