It combines a life course perspective with the sociology of migrations in order to improve understanding of the realities of these persons. The author proposes a typology base upon biographical interviews with 38 persons aged 55 and more. Four types are described: a) transnationals, b) the uncertain, oscillating between here and there, c) those that are stable within the resident society, d) the promoters of projects in their country of origin. The article facilitates understanding of the living conditions of minority populations that are hardly recognized by social policies and social workers.

Keywords

older persons

migrants

africans

latin-americans

typology

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

24
14,239,317,7,142,52,261
post-833","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-society-family-racism","tag-14","tag-africans","tag-ageing","tag-article","tag-elderly","tag-french-language","tag-latin-americans
["GET
