Abstract<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Cet article porte sur un dispositif de transferts m\u00e9dicaux d\u00e9pendant d\u2019une ONG d\u2019aide \u00e0 l\u2019enfance, destin\u00e9 \u00e0 des enfants b\u00e9ninois et togolais souffrant de cardiopathies cong\u00e9nitales et voyageant vers la Suisse en vue d\u2019interventions chirurgicales. Il se penche en particulier sur l\u2019une des conditions de prise en charge du dispositif qui pr\u00e9voit que les enfants voyagent seuls, sans aucun membre de leurs familles. L\u2019auteure d\u00e9crit les effets \u00e9motionnels et pratiques g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9s par l\u2019absence des parents sur diff\u00e9rents groupes d\u2019acteur\u00b7rice\u00b7s durant les hospitalisations et soins ambulatoires des enfants\u00a0: les enfants eux-m\u00eames, les soignant\u00b7e\u00b7s, les b\u00e9n\u00e9voles, et la chercheuse. Elle souligne en particulier la tension entre \u00ab\u00a0petits privil\u00e8ges\u00a0\u00bb et in\u00e9galit\u00e9s qui marquent le parcours de ces enfants pendant leur hospitalisation. Cette configuration particuli\u00e8re est l\u2019occasion de mettre en \u00e9vidence l\u2019importance de la place et du travail des parents au sein des services p\u00e9diatriques contemporains au travers de ce qui se r\u00e9v\u00e8le lorsqu\u2019ils sont absents. Elle permet \u00e9galement de donner \u00e0 voir les effets non souhait\u00e9s de certains dispositifs d\u2019aide internationale.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This paper focuses on a medical transfer programme run by a child welfare NGO for Beninese and Togolese children suffering from congenital heart defects and travelling to Switzerland for surgery. It specifically examines one of the conditions of the programme, which requires children to travel alone, without any family members. The author describes the emotional and practical effects generated by the absence of parents on different groups of actors during the children\u2019s hospitalisations and outpatient care: the children themselves, the caregivers, the volunteers, and the researcher. In particular, she highlights the tension between the \u201clittle privileges\u201d and inequalities that mark the lives of these children during their hospitalisation. This specific configuration is an opportunity to highlight the importance of the place and work of parents in contemporary paediatric services through what is revealed by their absence. It also highlights the unintended consequences of certain international aid schemes.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
