Naturalization decision not only depends on the profile and migratory trajectory of those likely to acquire a new nationality but also on the characteristics of the host countries and the countries of origin. Until now, little attention has been paid to changes in the country of origin. Thus, this article focused on three events that may have affected the naturalization of foreign nationals living in Switzerland: recognition of dual nationality, EU accession, and the euro debt crisis. It aims to shed light on naturalization practices by comparing the evolution of naturalization rates throughout periods before and after these changes occurred in the country of origin. Results show that the recognition of dual nationality is likely to have an increased interest in naturalization on a long-term basis, while the new UE Member States\u2019 naturalization rate decreased and converged towards the European rate. The impact of the economic crisis is more questionable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La d\u00e9cision de se naturaliser d\u00e9pend non seulement du profil et de la trajectoire migratoire des personnes susceptibles d\u2019acqu\u00e9rir une nouvelle nationalit\u00e9, mais aussi des caract\u00e9ristiques des pays d\u2019accueil et d\u2019origine. Peu d\u2019attention est toutefois port\u00e9e aux changements survenant dans le pays d\u2019origine. Cet article s\u2019int\u00e9resse \u00e0 trois \u00e9v\u00e8nements ayant pu affecter la naturalisation des ressortissant\u00b7e\u00b7s \u00e9tranger\u00b7\u00e8re\u00b7s vivant en Suisse\u00a0: la reconnaissance de la double nationalit\u00e9, l\u2019entr\u00e9e dans l\u2019UE et la crise de l\u2019euro. Il \u00e9claire les pratiques de naturalisation en comparant l\u2019\u00e9volution des taux de naturalisation durant les p\u00e9riodes pr\u00e9c\u00e9dant et suivant ces changements. Les r\u00e9sultats montrent que la reconnaissance de la double nationalit\u00e9 a certainement augment\u00e9 durablement l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat \u00e0 se naturaliser alors que le taux de naturalisation des nouveaux \u00c9tats membres de l\u2019UE diminue et converge vers le taux europ\u00e9en. L\u2019impact de la crise \u00e9conomique est quant \u00e0 lui plus discutable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
