“After having surveyed some pecularities about the national idea in Switzerland, the author examines the relationship with internationalism declared by the socialist movement. The latter will stay in the radical and democratic tradition of the 19 th Century, which is, to his point of view, not in contradiction with its international obligations. The multinational character of the Swiss working class does not go without influence on socialism, which, at the end, opens to foreigners, but with some difficulties. Several meetings finally led to a relative international collaboration. After having analyzed the Swiss participation to the 2nd International and to its solidarity, the author examines the Party attitudes towards militarism and war: everything seems to be settled from the end of 1912 and to prefigurate the events of 1914.”

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

35
234,281,252,28,52,216,180,205,123,11,692,249,278,641,25,676,384
post-36552","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-history","tag-234","tag-belonging","tag-democracy","tag-foreigners","tag-french-language","tag-international-cooperation","tag-multiculturalism","tag-national-identity","tag-political-participation","tag-political-parties","tag-public-policy","tag-report","tag-social-class","tag-social-protection","tag-solidarity","tag-trade-unions","tag-workers
["GET
