The analysis of the data collected shows that the transmission of Spanish as a heritage language is closely linked to the different social values conferred on it, ranging from ethnic affiliation to the utilitarian value of Spanish as a soft skill in a highly globalised world where employment opportunities are nowadays mainly in the tertiary service sector. This research is of importance for sociolinguistic studies, especially those on Heritage Language, because such studies are still scarce in European countries. For example, in the case of Spanish, the few studies carried out in Switzerland focus on the acquisitional aspect and the development of bilingual skills.”

Keywords: Sociolinguistics, Etnographic approach, Latin Americans in Switzerland, Spanish as heritage Language, Language Ideologies, Scales

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

167
722,7,120,259,634,161,261,372,91,68,612
post-35139","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-ethnicity-languages-religion-arts","tag-722","tag-article","tag-data-analysis","tag-ethnicity","tag-ethnography","tag-language-education","tag-latin-americans","tag-multilingualism","tag-social-integration","tag-sociolinguistics","tag-spanish-language
["GET
