The education and <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">training system within the host countries will play <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">a major role in preparing the new workforce for <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">job placements; this includes the recognition of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">prior learning, cultural and language integration. <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">All of this has to be addressed while resident <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">permits might only allow residing in a host coun<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">try until a safe return to the home country can <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">be expected. Switzerland has a long tradition <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">of immigrants entering the country and its VET <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">system (where the apprenticeship track is pre<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">dominant) has played an important role in inte<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">grating them into the labour market. Immigrants <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">due to humanitarian reasons<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\"> represent only <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">about 4% of all foreign residents and just under <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">1% of the total population of Switzerland.
