Notre approche tient compte de l\u2019interaction entre le niveau de qualifications et le statut d\u2019immigration (i.e. type de permis). En premier lieu nous calculons les taux d\u2019exposition dans le but d\u2019analyser la s\u00e9gr\u00e9gation au niveau de l\u2019entreprise selon ces deux dimensions. Deuxi\u00e8mement, nous examinons le r\u00f4le de la s\u00e9gr\u00e9gation dans l\u2019explication de l\u2019in\u00e9galit\u00e9 salariale observ\u00e9e entre les diff\u00e9rents groupes nationalit\u00e9-niveau de qualifications. Nous utilisons l\u2019Enqu\u00eate suisse sur la structure des salaires de 2002 qui r\u00e9colte des donn\u00e9es sur les salaires individuels aupr\u00e8s d\u2019un tr\u00e8s grand nombre d\u2019entreprises sur l\u2019ensemble des secteurs, couvrant environ 42&#8217;000 entreprises et pr\u00e8s d\u2019un million de salari\u00e9s. Nos r\u00e9sultats montrent que la s\u00e9gr\u00e9gation entre entreprises est particuli\u00e8rement prononc\u00e9e pour les travailleurs \u00e9trangers peu qualifi\u00e9s et pour les r\u00e9cemment arriv\u00e9s, soit les travailleurs \u00e9trangers hautement qualifi\u00e9s. Les premiers gagnent des salaires inf\u00e9rieurs \u00e0 ceux des Suisses ayant un m\u00eame niveau de qualifications, alors que les derniers obtiennent des salaires sup\u00e9rieurs aux suisses ayant un niveau de qualifications identique. Our approach accounts for the interaction between skill level and immigration status (work permit). First, we calculate exposure rates in order to analyze segregation at the firm level along these two dimensions. Second, we examine the role of segregation in the explanation of wage inequality between different skill-nationality groups. We use data from the Swiss Wage Structure Survey 2002 which records individual wages among a very large sample of establishments in all industries, covering approximately 42\u2019000 firms and 1 million workers. Our results show that interfirm segregation is particularly pronounced for unskilled foreign workers and for recently arrived, highly skilled foreigners. The former earn lower wages than equally skilled Swiss workers and the latter are paid higher wages than highly skilled Swiss workers.
