If, however, we consider the State of research<br \/>\nin the area of migration history, there are still few studies that incorporate migrants<br \/>\nas historical subjects and examine their contributions as social and political actors<br \/>\nin the shaping of society. Thus far historical research into immigration has largely<br \/>\nfocused on the Swiss migration regime and on national dynamics of exclusion with<br \/>\nrespect to corresponding institutional and administrative practices, legitimating<br \/>\ndiscourses, and political debates. Surveys of Swiss history, too, reflect the use of<br \/>\na narrative that primarily considers the interpretations, behaviour and sensitivities<br \/>\nof the host society.
