This incident is the starting point for an inquiry on a particular set of adversities like denunciation, political surveillance, xenophobia and anti-communism politically committed foreigners were confronted with in their home country and in Switzerland, and the strategies they had to set up in order to overcome hostilities. Thus, an emotional regime reigned by fear becomes explicit, raising the question on its impact on immigrants\u2019 lives, but also questioning the quality of democracy in post-war Switzerland.
