With<\/span> this<\/span> \ufb01rst<\/span> issue<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> year<\/span> 2015,<\/span> we<\/span> would<\/span> like<\/span> to<\/span> bring<\/span> political<\/span> scienc<\/span>e<\/span> closer<\/span> to<\/span><\/div>\n
politics.<\/span> Introduc<\/span>ing<\/span> our<\/span> new<\/span> Symposium<\/span> <\/span>form at,<\/span> the<\/span> foll<\/span>owing<\/span> six<\/span> contri butions<\/span> present <\/span>new<\/span> data<\/span> and<\/span> provocative<\/span> insights<\/span> into<\/span> Swiss<\/span> politics<\/span> in<\/span> a<\/span> concise<\/span> and<\/span> accessible<\/span> manner. <\/span>All<\/span> articles<\/span> have<\/span> been<\/span> pe<\/span>er-reviewed<\/span> to<\/span> ensure<\/span> that<\/span> academic<\/span> standar<\/span>ds<\/span> are<\/span> maintained,<\/span> but <\/span>authors<\/span> were<\/span> asked<\/span> to<\/span> stick<\/span> to<\/span> sim<\/span>ple<\/span> and<\/span> stra<\/span>ightforward<\/span> language.<\/span> The<\/span> ke y<\/span> question<\/span> that <\/span>animates<\/span> them<\/span> all<\/span> are<\/span> the<\/span> numerous<\/span> ch<\/span>allenges<\/span> linked<\/span> to<\/span> immigration<\/span> in<\/span> Switzerland, <\/span>apparent<\/span> not<\/span> least<\/span> since<\/span> the<\/span> acceptance<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> popular<\/span> init<\/span>iative<\/span> \u201cagainst<\/span> mass <\/span>immigration\u201d<\/span>(<\/span>M<\/span>asseneinwanderungsinitiati<\/span>ve<\/span><\/span>,<\/span> MEI)<\/span> by<\/span> the<\/span> Swiss<\/span> people<\/span> and<\/span> cantons<\/span> on<\/span> 9<\/span><\/div>\n
