Existing studies on emigration either focus on the first generation or the total migrant population. Analysing the Swiss context, this article explores the emigration patterns and determinants of children of immigrants in comparison with other subpopulations. We use original longitudinal data (obtained by linking the Structural Survey and the Population and Household Statistics) that provide information on emigration flows as well as on the migratory background. Results differ significantly according to the migratory status considered.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Zusammenfassung<\/h2>\n

Der Fokus bestehender Emigrationsstudien ist entweder auf die erste Generation oder die Gesamtmigrationsbev\u00f6lkerung gerichtet. Dieser Artikel untersucht die Emigrationsmuster und -faktoren der Immigrantenkinder im Vergleich mit anderen Bev\u00f6lkerungsgruppen im Schweizer Kontext. Daf\u00fcr kommen neue L\u00e4ngsschnittdaten zur Anwendung (die Strukturerhebung und die Statistik der Bev\u00f6lkerung und der Haushalte), welche die Auswanderungen beinhalten und Aufschluss \u00fcber den Migrationsstatus geben. Die Studienergebnisse variieren deutlich zwischen den einzelnen Migrationsstatus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

R\u00e9sum\u00e9<\/h2>\n

Les \u00e9tudes existantes sur l\u2019\u00e9migration mettent soit l\u2019accent sur la premi\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9ration soit sur l\u2019ensemble de la population migrante. Cet article explore les facteurs d\u2019\u00e9migration des enfants d\u2019immigrants en comparaison avec d\u2019autres sous-populations dans le contexte suisse. Nous utilisons des donn\u00e9es longitudinales (obtenues en appariant le relev\u00e9 structurel et la statistique de la population et des m\u00e9nages) qui d\u00e9crivent les \u00e9migrations ainsi que la trajectoire migratoire. Les r\u00e9sultats diff\u00e8rent consid\u00e9rablement selon le statut migratoire consid\u00e9r\u00e9.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
